If you come for a holiday to Phuket and like scuba diving then you will quickly realise there are plenty of options – single dive excursion, half day, full day, overnight and several days on a dive boat (liveaboard).
Beach or shore diving is still possible on Phuket. It is done on Nai Harn Beach and Kata Beach and Kamala Beach. This kind of diving is not for everybody – it is a bit more strenuous then just hoping on a boat and wait till the boat is over the dive site. More often then not a shore or beach dive involves a certain amount of surface swim, be it before the dive or after.
In Kamala Merlin Divers offers customers also private charter and arranging a single dive trip. It is not really in demand because the half day trip offered involves time wise only a half day and is certainly Merlin Divers most popular product. This trip – either a morning trip with 2 dives or an afternoon trip with 2 dives takes just about 4 and ½ hours in total.
Full day trip are plenty to choose from to the dive sites of the Racha Islands, the Phi Phi Island and into the triangle of of dive site laying in the marine sanctuary between Phi Phi and Phuket: Shark Point – Anemone Reef and King Cruiser Ship Wreck.
Overnight trips are available especially for the Similan Islands – THE diving area in Thailand. For many many years there was also a very popular Phi Phi Island overnight dive trip available. Unfortunately this offer will be missed for the coming high season. 2 days and on night is also possible on diving boats going to Hin Daeng and Hin Muang – 2 world class dive sites further down south in front of Koh Lanata Island.
The most asked for diving option for the Similan Island is however a liveaboard trip – generally 3 or 4 days long – there are few boats around doing trips of more days as well.
