The best know dive site in Phuket in Thailand by now is Phi Phi Island. Since the film with Leonardo di Caprio called “The Beach” everybody seems to know Phi Phi Island.

And many divers coming to Phuket for a holiday like to go there – and one of the reasons for sure – simply because Phi Phi Island is so famous. To get Phi Phi Island into the logbook is the aim of many divers – doing a dive around the Phi Phi Island dive sites is high on the agenda of many divers while holidaying in Phuket.

The Phi Phi Islands are actually 2 islands: Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh. Phi Phi Don is home to originally a Muslim village. Nowadays it is one of the most visited islands in Thailand. Phi Phi Leh is uninhabited and hosts the famous Maya beach from the film called “The Beach”.

But interestingly the best diving on a Phi Phi Island trips is done around the dive sites called Bida Nog and Bida Nai. Both are islands are relatively small and offer no access onto the islands because the islands are all around raising out of the water by a limestone wall or cliff up to at least 20 meters and some parts even higher. On top of both islands you got trees like a little forest.

Part of the dive sites around both islands are these limestone cliffs which decent and continue in the water up to 30 meters on one side of Bida Nog. Mostly the walls end around the 15 – 20 meter depth marking.

The walls are covered with soft corals and sea fans. And of course the marine life around both islands – dive sites – is very reach.

Since there is no real deep water, never any extreme strong current and the water is all year round about 28 -30 degrees Celsius warm – the Phi Phi islands dive sites are perfect for any level of scuba diver.
