Coming across one or two, sometimes even several leopard sharks while scuba diving on Phuket, Thailand is an unforgettable experience.

If you go scuba diving from Phuket, Thailand there are a few dive spots and dive sites with a good change to see a leopard shark. The dive sites around Phi Phi islands – especially the two Bida Islands, Shark Point Phi Phi and Garang Heng and of course the most famous dive site of them all around Phuket: Shark Point Phuket – in Thai called Hin Musang.

These sharks can be as long as we divers are – around 2 meters. But their mouth is not bigger than ours – hence these sharks are completely harmless. They feed from smaller things and we divers are really too big for them that these leopard shark might consider a diver as food.

So when you have the pleasure to see and meet a leopard shark while scuba diving on Phuket thoroughly enjoy it. If you are lucky you might find one shark laying in the sand. In that case you can sneak up to them till they are in arm lengths reach. Please do not touch the sharks but you can certainly shoot some great photos!
