Going scuba diving from the island of Phuket is very popular – here follows an introduction of one of the different scuba diving trips spots or dive sites available from Phuket: The Racha Islands. 

Racha Island Scuba Diving Day Trip

The Racha Islands – there are 2 of them Racha Yai and Racha Noi are the perfect diving sites for easy and relaxed diving. Both islands offers several bays where the dive boats can get close enough to the islands that the divers usually can see the bottom. This is of course very nice for beginner divers. It allows for a safe and controlled descent – especially important for divers doing there first open water dives.

Phuket Scuba Diving Day Trip

The start is around a sandy area but with a few kicks of your fins and you will be over a coral reef – many with lots of stack-horn corals and plenty of marine life. Big fishes – pelagic are really rare but in general we say around the Racha Islands you will on a day trip see 60 -70 % of the fishes in a fish book. And this means the diving trips and dive sites offer relatively a lot compared to other places in the world where the divers are happy if they see 10 fishes in total during one dive.

Scuba diving trips to the Racha Islands are possible to join all year round. Actually there is always a period in the low season where the visibility is the best at the Racha Islands – better than any other dive sites around Phuket.  And even better than in the high season where the weather tends to be warmer but also more plankton rich which is limiting the visibility.
